About the Jack Russell breed
The Jack Russell Terrier is a joyful, bold and energetic dog and is also extremely loyal, intelligent and assertive. Their strongest trait is their working ability, closely followed by their wonderful qualities as a companion. Their funny antics will continually amuse you and their intelligence will amaze you, while their assertive nature and endless energy may at times be overwhelming – so be prepared!

The Jack Russell Personality
Jack Russell Terriers are a happy, energetic dog with a strong need to work and are happiest when given companionship and a job to do. Digging can be normal for a Jack Russell and hunting ability is bred into them. The desire to hunt combined with a high energy level makes training essential for the Jack Russell.
Being a baying terrier, the Jack Russell can also be vocal – however by being alert they make good watchdogs.
Life With a Jack Russell
The hunting instinct cannot be trained out of the breed, so the Jack Russell Terrier needs lots of exercise and a home with a large fenced yard is best. The Jack Russell has an urge to explore and hunt and may wander. If kept indoors, daily brisk walks are a must!
The Jack Russell also enjoys energetic activities such as a hike or a long game of fetch, so this is not the breed if you prefer a dog who will sit peacefully on the couch all day.
